Debian 13's published schedule provides full support until August 9, 2028, followed by Long Term Support until June 30, 2030. See Debian's release information and LTS coverage. These dates apply to covered Debian packages, not automatically to Dagric-authored tools, optional third-party apps, or every hardware driver. Dagric's own release remains under review; see the current availability and test limits.

Yes. The free edition is a complete, private, hardened desktop — free forever, no strings, no account. Pro adds the creative, gaming, developer, and Windows-app suites for a one-time $39.

You don't have to — the free edition of Dagric is itself a real, complete distro. Pro is for people who'd rather not assemble and harden a general distro themselves. It's one curated, tested, coherent product: the Dagric Hub, seven one-click Looks layouts, snapshot-rollback, GPG-signed releases, Windows-app support, a hand-picked open-source toolkit, and real human support — set up the way a careful friend would. The tools are open source; the $39 buys the craftsmanship and the time it saves. No disrespect to the other projects — Dagric is just a different trade.

The image can start a live desktop from USB without installing Dagric. Public downloads are currently paused; check release status first. The guide explains preparation and testing.

The baseline is a 64-bit PC with 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended) and 25–40 GB of disk. The BIOS, UEFI, and Secure Boot paths have virtual-machine test evidence; physical Secure Boot validation remains pending. A requirements list cannot prove that every component in a specific computer will work.

A spec list can't tell you whether your Wi-Fi card has a driver, so don't take our word for it. Every Dagric USB stick puts Check This PC on the live desktop, right beside the installer — click that one first. It reports, in plain language, on your Wi-Fi and network, graphics and screen, Secure Boot, sound, camera and printer, the battery if it's a laptop, and whether your drives have room (and whether BitLocker is holding them shut). Nothing is installed and nothing is changed while you look: Windows is exactly where you left it when you pull the stick out. Check release availability.

Yes — choose Install alongside in the installer and pick how much space each system gets. At startup you choose which to boot.

Yes. The Migration Assistant (in the Hub, on every edition) finds the Windows still on your PC and copies your Documents, Desktop, Pictures, Music and Videos straight into your new home folder. Your Chrome, Edge and Firefox bookmarks are gathered into a single file, and the Assistant shows you the exact Firefox menu that loads it. Windows is only ever read, never modified — you can boot back into it any time. NTFS and exFAT drives also mount out of the box, and documents open with matching Office-metric fonts so the layout holds.

Many, yes — on both editions. Bottles installs in one click from the Dagric Hub and runs Windows software in separate per-app Wine environments; those environments are not security sandboxes. Pro adds Wine and winetricks underneath, preinstalled and tuned. Compatibility varies by app; for the rest, the web version in Firefox usually covers it. Some Steam games run through Proton; compatibility varies by title, anti-cheat, service and hardware. For a stubborn holdout, Pro ships Windows in a window — a full virtual-machine stack (UEFI + TPM 2.0, Windows 11-capable) so real Windows runs safely boxed inside Dagric, using Microsoft's own ISO.

Firefox is configured for DRM playback, but Google Widevine is proprietary and is not in the image; Firefox may download it from Google the first time protected playback needs it. Media codecs for local files are preinstalled. Service, browser, region, and title restrictions still apply.

Many modern driverless printers and scanners work without a vendor installer, and Dagric includes a broad driver library plus Print-to-PDF. HP all-in-ones get one-click setup in the Hub. Test your exact device from the live USB before installing; no OS can guarantee every model.

The installed OS sends no product telemetry, analytics or crash reports to Dagric, requires no Dagric account, and has no Dagric advertising ID. It does make documented requests for Debian and Dagric updates, firmware metadata and optional services. The privacy policy separates those requests from website visits, checkout, downloads and support messages.

AppArmor confinement active, a hardened kernel configuration, a firewall that's on, silently-installing security updates, and GPG-signed releases. Run the built-in Security Checkup to see your hardening score anytime.

Dagric snapshots the system before updates. Reboot, pick Dagric snapshots in the boot menu, choose the moment before the update, and you're back — files intact.

No. $39, once, provides the private-delivery, guided-upgrade, and support entitlement for one managed machine. There is no subscription or expiry, and no recurring purchase check after the claim. That service limit does not reduce any right to run, copy, modify, or redistribute a component under its open-source licence.

New sales and binary delivery are temporarily paused while the remaining release gates are completed. Existing customers should use contact for delivery questions, cancellation, or any refund remedy that applies to their order. Current status is on the release-status page.

Yes — in place, without reinstalling. Buy Pro, then on your free machine open the Dagric Hub and pick Upgrade to Pro — already bought it?. Paste the purchase code from your receipt (it starts with cs_), and the tool checks your purchase, downloads everything first, and installs the same suite the Pro ISO ships. Your files and settings stay exactly as they are.

Two honest details: your existing settings are kept rather than replaced by Pro's defaults, and your snapshot history starts fresh at the upgrade rather than at a clean install. The tool won't run on battery power or from the live USB stick, on purpose.

One purchase provides guided upgrade and support for one managed machine. Reinstalling the same machine is normally free — it is recognised by an anonymous fingerprint, never a serial number (details on the privacy page). On the small number of machines with no stable hardware id the fingerprint is based on an installation id that changes on reinstall, and the upgrade tool tells you if yours is one; there, and whenever a machine is replaced or a virtual machine moves, support moves the service slot at no cost — a message, not a process. A second concurrently managed machine needs a second service entitlement. This does not narrow the rights granted by any component's licence.

The Dagric-authored layer and the ordinary desktop applications are open source on a Debian base. Optional applications such as Steam, the NVIDIA driver, and DaVinci Resolve install only when you ask. The hardware layer also contains separately licensed, non-open-source components. Published 1.0 includes device firmware, CPU microcode, Broadcom firmware installers, and two prebuilt astronomy-camera libraries; future candidates use an explicit firmware list and a complete artifact-derived legal inventory.
