Your Windows 10 PC may still have years left.
Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. That does not automatically make the computer unusable. Dagric OS gives you a way to test a private, familiar desktop before changing the machine.
Before switching: check the actual computer
A model number alone cannot prove that Wi-Fi, graphics, sound, sleep, cameras, printers, or Secure Boot will behave on a specific machine. Check This PC is a read-only, offline hardware report included with Dagric OS. It checks the hardware in front of you and explains common risks in plain language before anything is installed.
The public build and test record also separates what has been tested from what still needs physical-hardware evidence. Read that record before treating a broad compatibility claim as a promise.
What stays familiar
- A taskbar, application menu, file manager, system settings, and familiar keyboard shortcuts.
- Plain-English application names such as Files, Text Editor, Task Manager, and Software Store.
- Office-metric fonts and LibreOffice tools for common Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents.
- Firefox for the web, with tracking protection and an owner-removable content blocker.
- Desktop layouts and styles that can be previewed, kept, or reversed.
Moving files and bookmarks
The Migration Assistant looks for the Windows partition and copies Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, and Desktop files into the new home folder. It also gathers Chrome, Edge, and Firefox bookmarks into a file that Firefox can import. The Windows side is mounted read-only during the copy, so the migration tool does not rewrite it.
Migration is still not a substitute for a backup. Keep a separate copy of anything you cannot replace before changing partitions or installing any operating system.
What about Windows applications?
Many everyday tasks have Linux applications: web browsing, documents, photos, video, messaging, coding, and gaming. Bottles can run some Windows applications in separate containers, while Steam and Proton support many games. Compatibility is application-specific; software that depends on a particular Windows driver, anti-cheat system, or corporate policy may not work.
Make a short list of the programs you truly need. Check each one before switching, and keep Windows available until the replacement workflow is proven. Dagric OS does not claim that every Windows program works.
A recovery path after installation
On the default Btrfs installation, Dagric OS creates automatic snapshots around system updates. If an update causes trouble, snapshots can be reached from the boot menu. This protects system state; it does not replace backups of personal files.

- Open your important files and confirm the applications you need.
- Back up your data before installing or changing partitions.
